Pay TNEB electricity bill via SMS without login

TNEB has introduced to pay current bill from mobile via SMS without login. This facility is aimed to reduce inconvenience such as standing on queue for long hours at bill counters particularly on due date. This facility is introduced especially for Indian Bank customers who have already enabled mobile banking. It can also be enabled for any savings account just by giving a request at home branch. The account holder will get MPIN for authorizing account transfer from respective Bank after the mobile banking has been permitted for particular account.

The consumer has to declare the Bank account number along with MPIN through SMS to register any of their account number before making payment. The mobile number will be mapped for paying electricity bill. The same mobile number is not allowed to register for more than one time. The consumer has to type the message in the following format to do registration.

RTNEB <<Acct No>> <<MPIN>> and send it to TNEB number 9444394443 for registration. In the places of <Acct No> and <MPIN> type your Bank account number and secret pin number respectively. Leave single blank space between each keyword.

Once the registration is done, the consumer can enquire pending amount of current bill. The current reading details cannot be obtained through SMS at present even though it can be found in online. The message has to be typed in the following prescribed format from registered mobile to check bill status.

ETNEB <<Region code with SCNO>> <<MPIN>> and send it to 9444394443 to TNEB number to know bill status. Here, the Region Code with SCNO should be mentioned on your EB card.

The customer has to mention the due amount of current EB bill in SMS to debit money from Bank account. The MPIN is necessary for processing transactions. The message has to be typed as follows to pay TNEB bill via SMS.

PTNEB <<Region code with SCNO>> <<Amount>> <<MPIN>> and send it to 9444394443 to make payment for EB bill.

The customer will receive an acknowledgment after successful payment. They can take the print out of the acknowledgement or payment receipt directly from TANGEDCO website. There is a limitation for paying EB bill amount through SMS mode. The maximum limit of payment is up to Rs. 5000. If the amount exceeds more than Rs. 5000, the consumer has to pay through net banking facility or directly to regional EB office.

Please note: While making the payment the customer need not to mention the account number for debit, since your mobile number has been already associated. The customer who possesses valid MPIN only can do mobile banking transactions. The transaction will happen to debit money from customer’s account and credit it to another bank account directly. The attempts for paying same SC Number is restricted. The customer cannot do more than one attempts per day.
